why would someone write a blog and share it with the world?

I was thinking of starting a IT company. So i had a discussion with my possible future partners on the idea that we had. So we were on a discussion on how a webpage would get popular. i asked them how come facebook and some blog become so famous now. Mr F say because human are vain they want to show off want others to see them see their picture, life...
